Top Does CATA teach by correspondence? No. Each course has practical diagnostic and needling components that are essential to professional Cosmetic Acupuncture training. Top Am I able to practice Cosmetic Acupuncture after completing a CATA course? Yes. After successfully completing a CATA Cosmetic Acupuncture course you are qualified to immediately offer Cosmetic Acupuncture to your patients. Top How long are the courses? Cosmetic Acupuncture amd Ruri Face Diagnosis (combined) courses are held over 2 days, from 10am-4.30pm each day. Cosmetic Topical Herbs courses are held over 1 day, from 10am-4.30pm. Ruri Face Diagnosis (only) courses are held over 1 day, from 10am-1.00pm Top Do I have to bring any needles or equipment to the course? Yes. You will need to bring with you a pen, notepaper, one box of 16x15mm needles with plastic handles (Japanese style needles are preferred, however Chinese 18x13 mm or similar needles with copper twist handles may be used), one box of 25mm needles (for body needling, you may bring whatever gauge you feel most comfortable using), swabs and 2 disposable dermal hammers. Massage oil and sharps containers are provided. Top I'm a final year student/new graduate, will I find the course difficult? It doesn't matter if you've been practising for 20 years or 20 minutes, you'll love the course! Top I'm not a qualified acupuncturist or acupuncture student, am I still able to do the course? At this stage the Cosmetic Acupuncture and Ruri Face Diagnosis (combined) course is restricted to qualified acupuncturists and final year acupuncture students. A no-needles course is being considered for those with no acupuncture training and it is anticipated it will be available in 2012. The Cosmetic Topcial Herbs course and the Ruri Face Diagnosis (only) have no prerequisites and anyone is able to participate in these courses. Top Do the courses include any practical work? Yes, both courses have strong practical components. You will complete several Ruri Face Diagnosis exercises and Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments during the course. You will complete a Cosmetic Topical Herbs treatment during the Cosmetic Topical Herbs course. Top Do I get a certificate after completing the course? Yes. All participants successfully completing the theoretical and practical components of the courses receive CATA certificates of completion and competence. Top Do I get continuing professional education points (CPE) for doing the couse? Yes, AACMA and NZRA members receive 11 CPE points for completing the Cosmetic Acupuncture and Ruri Face Diagnosis course, and 5.5 CPE points for the Cosmetic Topical Herbs course. For other organisations please contact your professional body for CPE allotment. Top How big are the class sizes? Cosmetic Acupuncture and Ruri Face Diagnosis combined class sizes are restricted to a maximum of 18 participants to ensure the highest level of practical training. Some smaller venues (such as the Sunshine Coast) are restricted to 7 participants. Early registration is imperative to secure your place in the course of your choice. Top How much does it cost? 2011/2012 Cosmetic Acupuncture and Ruri Face Diagnosis (combined) courses are $890 for AACMA members or $990 for non-members. Cosmetic Topical Herb courses are $440 for AACMA members or $490 for non-members. Ruri Face Diagnosis (only) courses are $225 for AACMA members or $250 for non-members.
